Tartan Day is celebrated on April 6 - the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320. It was created as an official holiday in 1998 through a resolution by Senate Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott, a Buchanan.

1297: Against all odds, William Wallace leads Scotland, Alba, to victory over the English Army at Stirling Bridge. Rule by consent is established when he is appointed "Guardian of the Realm".
